STANFORD, Calif. (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV women's golf team wrapped up second round play at the NCAA Stanford Regional Tuesday and remained in 11th place through 36 holes. Veronica Joels is the highest Rebel on the leaderboard, sitting tied for 40th at 8-over after her 3-over 74 Tuesday.
USC started the day one stroke off the lead and took control on day two, shooting an 8-under Tuesday to take a four-shot lead at 12-under over the field's top seed and host Stanford. First-round leader LSU shot even in round two and sits in third at 5-under, while Purdue and Northwestern are tied for the coveted fourth spot at 8-over. USC's Amari Avery shot up to the top of the individual standings after her 4-under Tuesday brought her to 6-under overall. Heading into Wednesday's final round, Avery holds a two-shot lead over teammate Brianna Navarrosa and LSU's Carla Tejedo, who are tied for second at 4-under.

Nicole Lorup had the top Rebel round of the day - a 1-over 72 - and sits in a tie for 47th at 10-over. Freshman
Kendall Todd is tied for 54th at 13-over, followed by freshman
Hina Matsui in 58th at 14-over and freshman
Toa Yokoyama in a tie for 59th at 15-over.
Stanford is one of six regional sites in 2022. The top four teams and top two individuals (not on an advancing team) will advance from each regional site to the championships, which will be held for the second straight year at Grayhawk Golf Club (Raptor Course) in Scottsdale, Arizona, from May 20-25.
