LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV men's tennis team downed Weber State 5-2 on Sunday to close out a flurry of opening-weekend matches at the Fertitta Tennis Complex.
The Rebels improved to 3-1 while the Wildcats fell to 2-3.
The hosts took two of three doubles matches to earn a 1-0 lead.
Maxim Verboven and
Milos Dabic won their match, 6-4, at the top of the lineup while
Aaron Bailey and
Dusan Rsovac clinched with a 6-4 triumph on court three.
Moving to singles play, Weber State won at the top two positions but UNLV took the next four in the lineup. Bailey downed Connor Kruger, 4-6, 7-6, 1-0 (10-7) at No. 3; Rsovac outlasted William Zulch, 6-3, 4-6, 6-0, at No. 4;
Thomas Navarro swept Jordan Coutinho, 6-2, 6-1, at No. 5; and
Eduardo Cohen got by Malteo Savio, 6-3, 7-5, on court six.
REBEL OF THE MATCH: Bailey continued his strong play in the opening weekend by winning both his doubles and singles match.
