LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV women's soccer program signed six new Rebels for fall 2024, head coach
Jenny Ruiz-Williams announced Saturday.
The class features three local signees in Summer Pyles, Makena Siaki and Emma Rietz, two Californians in Felicity Garcia and Tori Martinez, as well as Hawai'i native Jael Kapua'ala.
"As a staff, we worked diligently to build this 2024 class and I'm really proud of the players we are bringing into the program," said Ruiz-Williams. "Not only are they going to positively impact us on the field, but they will be great ambassadors in the classroom and in our community."
Felicity Garcia, Forward/Defender, Fontana, CA
Garcia, a forward and defender from Fontana, California, is set to start her senior season at Etiwanda High School. During her time at EHS, she has helped guide the Eagles to three Baseline League titles and earned all-league honors each season. In three years with the Eagles, Garcia has been captain twice and amassed 23 goals and eight assists. At the club level, she has played for ECNL team Legends FC for six years, which won the Southwest Conference Championship in 2022 and qualified for ECNL playoffs. A versatile player that can play multiple positions, Garcia possesses high game intelligence and elite athleticism. She is undecided on a major.
Jael Kapua'ala, Defender/Midfielder, Wailuku, HI
A defender and midfielder, Kapua'ala comes from Wailuku, Hawai'i. In two seasons at Kamehameha School Maui, she has made the all-state team once and the MIL All-Star squad twice, while also leading the Warriors to a third-place state championship finish. With her club team, Hawai'i Rush 2006, Kapua'ala won a Surf Cup Super Black Championship. She has a high motor and is a well-rounded player athletically, technically and tactically. She plans to major in kinesiology.
Tori Martinez, Midfielder/Forward, Temple City, CA
Martinez joins her sister -
Sarah Martinez - on the team out of Temple City, California. At Temple City High School, she has won one Rio Hondo League title and added two top-3 RHL finishes in three seasons. A club teammate of Garcia on ECNL Legends FC for two years, Martinez contributed to the squad's 2022 Southwest Conference Championship. A player with great touch, she has a special ability to escape from tight spaces. She is undecided on a major.\
Summer Pyles, Midfielder, Las Vegas, NV
A midfielder, Pyles will be wrapping up her senior year at Delta Academy. During her local club career, she earned a 2021 ECNL All-Conference selection with Heat FC (2020-23), won the 2019 State Cup Championship with Albion FC (2017-20) and was invited to the U.S. Soccer Youth National Team ID Center twice. Pyles plays with maturity and holds incredible shooting capability. She plans to major in mechanical engineering.
Emma Rietz, Forward, Henderson, NV
Rietz attends Foothill High School in Henderson. A forward, she has played seven years for Heat FC, compiling a 2022 ECNL First Team selection, ECNL National Camp 2022 Recruit nod and a 2021 ECNL National Selection Game invitation in that span. Rietz displays a phenomenal ability to finish, as well as grit and intelligence in front of goal. She plans to major in kinesiology.
Makena Siaki, Defender, Las Vegas, NV
Another local standout, Siaki is finishing her prep career at Desert Oasis High School. As a defender, she has scored six goals to go along with two assists across two full seasons with the Diamondbacks and received second team all-state honors as a junior. Additionally, she brings three years of experience at the club level with Heat FC. A selfless defender, she will go to the ground, is brilliant in the air and shows amazing speed. She plans to major in business and marketing.
