Rebel Offensive Coordinator Marion A Broyles Nominee

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – First-year UNLV football offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Brennan Marion is one of 57 nominees for the prestigious Broyles Award, which honors college football's top assistant coaches, the Frank and Barbara Broyles Foundation announced Tuesday.

The nominees in this year's class were selected from approximately 1,500 assistant coaches representing 131 FBS programs across the country. A selection committee of former head coaches, broadcasters and a committee representing the Football Writers Association of America will select 15 semifinalists, five finalists and then the overall winner.

Marion, who joined head coach Barry Odom's staff after coaching last season at the University of Texas, has installed his Go-Go Offense to record-breaking effect. UNLV's current total of 31 rushing touchdowns is second only to USC's 32 and the most for the program in an entire season since 1975. The Rebels have set school records for most times scoring 40 points or more both overall (six games) and in consecutive outings (four). In fact, UNLV has scored at least 24 points in eight straight games for the first time since the program moved to Division I in 1978.

The Rebels, who rank 18th nationally in scoring, are averaging a full 10 points more a game than last season and their 84 third-down conversions are eight more than any other team in the nation.
Next up, UNLV (8-2/5-1) heads to Air Force this Saturday for a showdown of first-place teams. Kickoff is set for 12:30 p.m. PT and the game will be televised by CBS Sports Network. The Rebels' final regular-season home game is on November 25 vs. San Jose State starting at noon. Tickets are on sale now by calling (702) 739-FANS or visiting unlvtickets.com.
The Broyles Award is presented by Oaklawn, Hot Springs, Arkansas. Proceeds from the 2023 Broyles Award support the Broyles Foundation's mission to provide a game plan for Alzheimer's caregivers through education, support, and resources.
