SEATTLE (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV men's tennis team lost its first true road match of the season on Sunday, 7-0, vs. Pac-12 Conference member Washington at the Nordstrom Tennis Center.
Playing indoors, the Rebels fell to 6-3 while the Huskies improved to 6-3.
The hosts took two of three doubles matches to earn a quick 1-0 lead.
Washington then took five straight-set victories in singles play but the real story was at the top of the lineup where UNLV's
Maxim Verboven battled UW's Han-Chih Lin. The epic battle of No. 1 players was settled with a super tiebreaker and Lin finally won it, 7-6 (5), 6-7 (5), 1-0 (10-7).
UP NEXT: UNLV will head back on the road with a trip to the Arizona State spring tournament starting Friday.
