Santana Shatters MW Indoor Championship Shot Put Record

UNLV track & field finished ninth overall with a team score of 31.5.

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (UNLVRebels.com) – Sophomore Rosa Santana was crowned the women's shot put champion with a new conference championship record of 17.91m (58-09.25) to close out the 2023 Mountain West Indoor Track & Field Championships.

ON THE TRACK
Sophomores Kennedi Porter and AnnaKay Maitland took fourth and sixth in the women's 60m dash with career best times of 7.44 and 7.45, respectively.

Porter also took fourth in the women's 200m dash with a career best time of 23.76, she was only 0.09 seconds away from third place.

Sophomore distance standout Natalia Ruiz took ninth overall in the women's 3000m run with a career best time of 9:46.90, just 0.85 seconds away from eighth place.

The women's 1600 relay team of junior Endya Scott (55.50), graduate student Aaliyah Scott (54.96), freshman Jana Lakner 54.25) and Maitland (56.15) finished fourth with a time of 3:41.06.

ON THE FIELD
Sophomore Rosa Santana took first in the women's shot put with a mark of 17.91m, 0.36m ahead of second place (17.55m).
