LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – UNLV women's swimming and diving junior Blanka Bokros has been named the Raising Cane's Outstanding Rebel of the Week, the school announced Monday.
The award goes to the student-athlete who turned in the best individual performance during the previous week of competition from Monday through Sunday as voted on by the UNLV Athletics Strategic Communications department.
A Budapest, Hungary native, Bokros swept her competition in the butterfly events at the Mountain West Championships (Feb.15-18) for her second straight gold in the 200 fly (1:55.44) and first individual title in the 100 fly (52.96). She broke the MW conference and the school's record in the 200 fly during prelims and became the first UNLV swimmer to win back-to-back league titles in the event. Bokros also contributed to a pair of the Rebels' relay team top-3 finishes, winning the silver in the 200 medley relay and bronze in the 200 free relay.
