LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – UNLV softball senior Bri Williams has been named the Raising Cane's Outstanding Rebel of the Week, the school announced Wednesday.
Williams earned the recognition for the first time this season, while it's the softball team's first of the year.
The award goes to the student-athlete who turned in the best individual performance during the previous week of competition from Monday through Sunday as voted on by the UNLV Athletics Strategic Communications department.
A native of Moreno Valley, California, Williams led the Rebels to a 3-1 week, including a win against Utah Tech and a series win over San Diego State last week.
During the four-game stretch, Williams batted a combined .636 (7-for-11) with two doubles, a home run, three RBI and five runs scored. Additionally, she posted a 1.091 slugging percentage and a .714 on-base percentage.
In three games against the Aztecs, Williams collected four hits, scored three runs and hit a home run. In game two vs. SDSU, she went 3-for-4, tallying a double, a home run and two runs scored. Against Utah Tech, Williams finished 3-for-4, recording a double, an RBI and two runs scored.
Williams was also hit by a pitch three times, which put her at 15 HBP on the season and marked a new single-season program record. Additionally, she extended her on-base streak to 20 games.
