LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV men's tennis team played its first match since last month and fell 6-1 to Santa Clara on a gorgeous Friday afternoon at the Fertitta Tennis Complex.
The Rebels dropped to 7-6 while the Broncos improved to 8-5.
The hosts actually took a 1-0 lead after winning the doubles point.
Milos Dabic and
Maxim Verboven won 7-5 at the top of the lineup while
Jackson Atherton and
Anton Ornberg emerged 6-3 on court three.
In singles play, Santa Clara won four straight-setters to clinch the overall victory and then took two marathon super-tiebreakers to make it a clean sweep.
UP NEXT: UNLV will look to snap a three-match losing skid when it hosts NAU on Saturday starting with doubles play at 11 a.m. Admission to all matches is free of charge.
