LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV men's tennis team looked strong at the top of the singles lineup but could not overcome the depth of NAU in a 5-2 loss Saturday afternoon at the Fertitta Tennis Complex.
 
The Rebels dropped to 7-7 while the Lumberjacks improved to 13-2.
 
NAU took a 1-0 lead by winning the first two completed doubles matches.
 
UNLV rallied in singles, however, taking a 2-1 advantage with straight-set wins on top. Maxim Verboven downed Maikel De Boes, 6-1, 6-3, at the first position and Anton Ornberg breezed by Facundo Tumosa, 6-0, 6-0 on court two. The visitors would then clinch the match with a trio of straight-setters of their own and wrapped things up with a super-tiebreaker win on court six.
 
UP NEXT: UNLV will look to snap a four-match losing skid on Friday by hosting Grand Canyon starting with doubles play at 11 a.m. Admission to all matches is free of charge.
