LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV women's tennis team wrapped up a long homestand with a dominant 4-0 win over New Mexico Sunday afternoon at the Fertitta Tennis Complex.
The Rebels improved to 10-1 overall and 2-0 in the Mountain West while the Lobos fell to 7-4 and 0-2 in league play.
UNLV captured the doubles point by taking victories on the top two courts.
Molly Helgesson and
Zita Kovacs won 6-3 at the top of the lineup before
Cindy Hu and
Coco Zhao clinched it with a 6-4 victory on court two.
The hosts won the first set on all six singles courts and picked up a trio of straight-setters to end things. Helgesson downed Sara O'Connor, 6-0, 6-3, at No. 1;
Salsa Aher breezed past Leonie Hoppe, 6-1, 6-1, at No. 3; and
Aura Fang sprinted past Sofia Taborga, 6-1, 6-0, on court six.
REBEL OF THE MATCH: Helgesson closed out a strong weekend with a 2-0 day, including the impressive singles victory at the top.
UP NEXT: UNLV hits the road for the first time in dual play, meeting Boise State in Idaho on Saturday afternoon.
