Rebels Close Out Beach Invitational

LONG BEACH, Calif. (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV track & field program wrapped up the final day of the Long Beach State Invitational. The two-day meet was contested at Jack Rose Track on the campus of Long Beach State in Long Beach, California.

The Rebels competed against Mountain West foes Air Force, Boise State, Colorado State, Fresno State, UNR, Utah State and Wyoming, as well as nationally ranked BYU, Texas Tech, Iowa, USC, Miami, Michigan and Oklahoma State.

ON THE TRACK
- Freshman Noelani Mendonza ran a season best in the women's 100m hurdles with a time of 15.95.
- Freshman Jana Lakner finished fourth in the women's 400m dash with a 54.90, just 0.24 seconds away from Boise State's Maleigha Menegatti in third.
- Sophomore Kennedi Porter ran a personal best in the women's 100m dash, finishing ninth with a time of 11.71. Sophomore Shakeira Bowra came in 12th with a season best time of 11.78 and freshman Ella Hagman finished with a time of 13.16.
- Porter took seventh in the women's 200m dash with a time of 24.46 and Bowra finished with a time of 25.08.

ON THE FIELD
- Sophomore Roxene Simpson finished the women's discus throw with a mark of 41.66m (136-08.00), followed by sophomore Kimone Reid with a mark of 40.13m (131-08.00).
- Sophomore Erin Thompson placed fourth in the women's high jump with a mark of 1.71m (5-07.25).
- Graduate student Cassidy Osborne-Butler took third in the women's shot put with a personal best mark of 16.24m (53-02.00). Sophomore Roxene Simpson finished with a mark of 12.81m (42-00.50).

UP NEXT: The Rebels will close out the regular season with a trip to Tucson, Arizona for the Desert Heat Classic set for Saturday, April 29.
