CLOVIS, Calif. (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV track & field program wrapped up the final day of the 2023 Mountain West Outdoor Track & Field Championships held in Clovis, California at Veterans Memorial Stadium with eight top ten finishes, including a second place finish from freshman Jennifer Soetebier in the women's high jump. The Rebels finished in seventh overall with a total of 58.20 points.
ON THE TRACK
- Senior Alia Scott took bronze in the women's 400m hurdles with a personal best time of 59.13, marking the fifth fastest in program history.
- Sophomore duo Kennedi Porter and Shakeira Bowra came in hot for the women's 100m dash, both finishing in the top six. Porter secured fourth place and recorded a personal best with a time of 11.68, just 0.03 ahead of Bowra in sixth (11.71).
- Freshman Jana Lakner finished fifth in the women's 400m dash with a time of 54.46.
- Sophomore Natalia Ruiz finished top fifteen in the women's 5000m run (16:42.08).
ON THE FIELD
- Soetebier secured the silver medal in the women's high jump with a mark of 1.68m (5-06.00) and sophomore Erin Thompson took sixth place (1.63m (05-04.25)).
- Sophomore Rosa Sanatana finished seventh overall with a mark of 42.90m (149-03.00) in the women's discus throw. Sophomore Roxene Simpson followed in ninth place, marking 40.67m (133-05.00).
