TUCSON, Ariz. (UNLVRebels.com) – UNLV men's tennis finished with a winning overall record over the weekend during the team's first fall tourney action of the season.
Competing in the singles and doubles individual event at the LaNelle Robson Tennis Center at the University of Arizona, five Rebels faced competitors from Gonzaga, New Mexico, NAU, New Mexico State and the host Wildcats.
UNLV's contingent went a combined 9-6 in singles and 4-2 in doubles play from Friday through Sunday. New addition
Taiyo Hirano, a transfer from Cowley College, led the way with a perfect 6-0 combined record.
"It was a good weekend for us because we got to play a lot of matches," said first-year head coach Andy Jackson. "When you win more than you lose, it's always good. We're looking forward to the Bedford Cup next weekend."
