LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV men's tennis team opened the UNLV Quad with a 4-1 victory over Hawai'i Friday morning at the Fertitta Tennis Complex. 

 The Rebels improved to 2-0 while the Warriors fell to 0-3.

UNLV avenged a season-opening home loss to UH a year ago.
 
The Rebels opened by taking the doubles point. Illia Maksymchuk and Taiyo Hirano dominated as they won their match  6-1 at the No. 2 court, followed by Joseph Chen and Aaron Bailey who won 7-5 on court six.
 
Moving to singles play, Hirano downed Sohta Urano, 6-2,6-0 on court six while Martin Jovenin defeated Andrew Somerville, 6-4, 6-2 at No.5. 
 
Hawai'i grabbed its point as Karl Collins defeated Illia Maksymchuk, 7-5, 6-0, at the fourth position. 
 
Senior Anton Ornberg clinched the Rebel victory with a win against Quinn Synder on court one, 7-6, 6-1.
 
REBEL OF THE MATCH: Ornberg ended things with a straight-set victory at the top of the lineup.
