PALO ALTO, Calif. (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV women's tennis team put up a fight before falling 4-1 to Colorado in Saturday's consolation round of the ITA Kickoff Weekend being hosted at the Taube Family Tennis Stadium on the campus of Stanford.
 
The Rebels fell to 0-2 while the Buffaloes improved to 2-1.
 
CU opened by taking the doubles point and then got a quick straight-set win to make it 2-0.
 
UNLV, however, led early on multiple courts and got a win from Salsa Aher at the second position, 6-3, 6-4, over Elys Ventura. CU then rallied for wins at both No. 6 and No. 2 to clinch it just as CoCo Zhao won her match at No. 5, 7-5, 7-6, over Pia Rebec. Another potential Rebel victory at the top of the lineup was then halted.
 
Next up, UNLV opens its home schedule by taking on Weber State on Friday starting at 10 am. Admission to all matches at the Fertitta Tennis Complex are free of charge.
