HIGHLANDS RANCH, Colo (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV women's golf team combined for a season-low 6-under 282 Saturday to climb into second after the second round of the Ron Moore Intercollegiate being hosted by Denver at Denver University Golf Club at Highlands Ranch (Par 72, 6,611 yards).
With all four individual scorers shooting par or better in the day-two tally, the Rebels also recorded a new season-best 36-hole score at 10-under 566. They stand within two shots of Kansas State in first place at 12-under 564.
For the second straight day, seniors
Mayumi Umezu and
Toa Yokoyama topped the Rebels' scorecard as they each carded a 3-under 69. Umezu (-7) moved into second within three shots of day-two leader Isabell McCauley (-1) from Minnesota, while Yokoyama (-5) pulled into a tie for sixth.
Joining the Scarlet & Gray leading duo on the team scorecard, senior
McKenzi Hall (+1) and sophomore
Zi Yu Foong (+4) each shot an even-par 72 to sit in ties for 23rd and 41st, respectively. Nearly giving the Rebels a full lineup of par-or-better scores, senior
Hina Matsui (+2) shot a 1-over 73 and is tied for 28th through 36 holes.
