COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (UNLVrebels.com) – The UNLV women's cross country team kicked off the championships season on Friday morning, competing at the 2024 Mountain West Women's Cross Country Championships. The team traveled out to the Eisenhower Golf Course for the 6k race, hosted by Air Force.
The Rebels totaled 315 points in the meet, finishing 11th overall as a team. Freshman
Claire Rands highlighted the results for the Scarlet & Gray, the first Rebel to cross the finish line on a 24:24.2 final time. Her freshman teammate,
Sophia Legat, touched the end two places behind Rands, jumping up six spots from the 2k through 4k portion of the race. Legat finished on a final time of 25:01.3.
A pair of members of the Scarlet & Gray finished less than 30 seconds later,
Abigail Danlag sliding in at a 25:18.2 mark.
Breanna Blanks finished in the next place behind her upperclassman teammate, the freshman crossing the finish line at a 25:24.2 final time.
Four other Rebels concluded the race to round out the Rebel lineup,
Alana Sangprasit (26:10.9),
Leah Okuda (26:20.4) and
Nicole Boskovich (26:29.0) contributing to the UNLV total.
Aine McDade finished the race on a 27:10.4 final time.
The Scarlet & Gray will have to wait to see if their 2024 season continues through the championship season, the next meet on the schedule being NCAA West Regional.
