LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The Rebel cross country team returns to action at home for the Duel In The Desert at Floyd Lamb Park, co-hosted by CSN and Nevada State. The Scarlet & Gray will participate in the women's 5K at 8:20 am, and follow the men's 8K at 7:30 am.
The Rebels have competed twice this season in the Golden State in the 6K at Coyote Challenge in San Bernardino at the UC Riverside Invitational. Freshmen Sophie Kellogg (21:47.3) and Anya Gorely (21:52) were the top-two finishers at the Coyote Challenge, with both running the 13th and 15th-fastest 6K's in program history. Gorely also was the first Rebel to cross the final line in Riverside with a time of 21:58.3.
Kellogg and Gorely will be joined by teammates Breanna Blanks, Kenley Gowdy, Katelyn Johnson, Reese LeBaron, Ruby Lorenz, Peyton Pilling, Janaé Sanders, Alana Sangprasit, Frankie Scotello and Avery Smith at Saturday's race.
2026 SCHEDULE: The Rebels will compete in five meets before their participation in the Mountain West Championships and the NCAA postseason. Next week, the team will head back to Southern California at The Master's University Invite (6K) on October 3 in Santa Clarita. The Scarlet & Gray will then venture to Santa Clara hosted Bronco Invite on October 17 (6K) in Sunnyvale. UNLV will venture out north for the Mountain West Championships (6K) scheduled to take place in Reno, Nevada at Washoe Golf Course on October 30. Additionally, the NCAA will hold its West Regional (6K) in Sacramento, California on November 13.
