LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - Right off the heels of the UNLV women's cross country team's strong performance at the Duel In The Desert last weekend, the Rebels earned recognition from the Mountain West conference with their first conference weekly award of the season. Announced on Tuesday afternoon, Anya Gorely was honored as the conference's Women's Cross Country Freshman of the Week.

The Fort Collins, Colorado native placed first in the 5K with a time of 18:36.1, her first time running the 5K in her freshman year. She helped UNLV sweep the top five scoring positions to win the Duel in the Desert at Floyd Lamb Park in Las Vegas. The Rebels finished with 15 points, well ahead of College of Southern Nevada (70), Soka (72) and Nevada State (78) in the women's 5K.

Tuesday marks the first time that the Rebels have garnered the honor since the 2023 season when current Rebel Alana Sangprasit earned the award.
