LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – UNLV softball has officially signed six players to the 2025 incoming class, head coach
Kristie Fox announced today.
The group - Taryn Calderon, Lauren Fettic, Hailey Gilbertson, Lyla Gonzalez, Brooklyn Heil and Sophie Stockam - will join the squad next fall after signing during the first week of the signing period.
Taryn Calderon | INF | Modesto, Calif.
Calderon, a four-year letterwinner at Central Catholic High School under head coach Samuel Nichols, helped Central Catholic to a 2022 NorCal Championship. During her junior campaign, Calderon batted a .387 and, in her sophomore, season batted a .374. She also is a three-year letterwinner in basketball and competed for the varsity cross country team.
Lauren Fettic | P, 1B | Boise, Idaho
Fettic, a three-year letterwinner at Bishop Kelly High School under head coach Travis Ribordy helped the Knights to a 2024 4A Southern Idaho Conference championship and the 4A Idaho State runners-up who had a 23-5 overall record. Fettic and the Knights finished third in the 4A Southern Idaho Conference during the 2023 season with an overall record of 16-7 and an undefeated 12-0 in conference play. Fettic led the Idaho 4A conference in home runs with 12 and ranked second in RBI with 52 in 2024. She also posted a 1.21 ERA during conference play. In 2024, she was named Player of the Week by the Idaho Statesman three times, earned All-State first team honors as a pitcher, All-Conference second team at first base, and All-Conference honorable mention as a pitcher. In 2023, Fettic earned All-Conference honorable mention honors at first base. Outside of her high school softball career, Fettic plays for the Colorado Batbusters 18U National team and is ranked the #2 pitcher and #10 power hitter in the Mountain Region by Extra Inning Softball. Fettic is also a three-year letterwinner in volleyball and a two-year letterwinner in basketball. She plans to major in pre-medicine to become a doctor at UNLV.
Hailey Gilbertson | OF | Henderson, Nev.
Gilbertson, a three-year letterwinner at Foothill High School under head coach Jonathan Henderson earned 2024 4A Mountain first team honors as an outfielder who batted a .452 during her junior campaign. Gilbertson is speedy on the base path, having 46 stolen bases in three years. Additionally, she has had an on-base percentage of nearly .500 or higher for the past three seasons. Outside of her high school softball career, Gilbertson plays club ball with Lil Rebels Gordie/TC. She plans to major in criminal justice at UNLV with a career ambition of being a lawyer in her hometown.
Lyla Gonzalez | INF | Norco, Calif.
Gonzalez, a four-year letterwinner at Chino Hills High School under head coach Richard Gaiter helped the Huskies to three consecutive Baseline League Championships. During her 2024 season, she batted a .400 with 16 RBI and in the 2023 season batted a .308 with 12 RBI. Gonzalez plays travel ball with the OC Batbusters Stith Maroon. She plans to major in forensic science/biochemistry at UNLV.
Brooklyn Heil | OF, UTL | Aurora, Colo.
Heil, a four-year letterwinner at Grandview High School who is a three-time All-Conference selection and a two-time All-State award winner. Through her four seasons with the Wolves she batted a .377 with 73 RBI, 18 doubles, 11 home runs and seven triples. Heil has also accumulated a .483 on-base percentage through four years and 40 stolen bases.
Sophie Stockam | P, INF | Maize, Kan.
Stockam the #1 ranked pitcher by Extra Innings in the 2025 Mountain 5 region is a four-year letterwinner at Maize South High School under head coach Cody Stucky. Stockam helped lead the Mavericks to an Ark Valley Chisholm Trail League Championship and a Regional championship during the 2024 season. She is a two-time All-League first teamer and two-time All-State first team pitcher along with All-Metro first team honors, KSHSAA All-State 5A first team pitcher, and the 2024 Sports in Kansas 5A Pitcher of the Year. The right-handed pitcher had a 15-1 record through 97.0 innings during her junior campaign and sat down 200 batters. Stockam held her opponents to a .107 batting average in 2024. At the plate in her junior season, she batted a .389 with eight home runs and 41 RBI. Outside of her high school softball career, Stockam plays for Aces Fastpitch Club. She plans to major in architecture at UNLV.
