ROME, Ga. (UNLVRebels.com) – UNLV men's tennis standout Illia Maksymchuk won his first match on Friday in the consolation draw of the 2024 ITA Conference Masters Championships, taking place this weekend at the Rome Tennis Center.
 
Maksymchuk, who earned his spot in the elite singles field by winning the Mountain West Qualifier last month, defeated Taj Hibbert of Tennessee State, 6-4, 6-4, to advance.
 
The Rebel sophomore from Ukraine will now move into Saturday's action, which features two rounds of consolation singles.
