De Jesus Named Raising Cane's Outstanding Rebel Of The Week

The senior wide receiver was named Offensive MVP in LA Bowl victory

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – UNLV football senior Jacob De Jesus has been named the Raising Cane's Outstanding Rebel of the Week, the school announced Thursday.

The award goes to the student-athlete who turned in the best individual performance during the previous week of competition from Monday through Sunday as voted on by the UNLV Athletics Strategic Communications department.

De Jesus, a native of Manteca, California, led the Rebels to a 24-13 victory over Cal in the Art of Sport LA Bowl Hosted By Gronk. The versatile wide receiver was named the Offensive MVP with 142 all-purpose yards, which included two catches for 38 yards and one touchdown to go along with 102 combined kick and punt return yards. Early in the second quarter, he scored a nine-yard receiving touchdown to give the Rebels a lead they would not relinquish.

The victory marked the Rebels' first bowl game win since 2000 and the first 11-win season in over 40 years.
