LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV women's tennis team downed New Mexico State 7-0 to remain perfect at home this season on a gorgeous Friday morning at the Fertitta Tennis Complex.
 
The Rebels improved to 4-2 while the Aggies fell to 1-4.
 
UNLV won the doubles point by taking two of three matches. Cindy Hu and Coco Zhao won 6-3 at No. 2 after Aura Fang and Salsa Aher rolled 6-1 on court three.
 
In singles play, four Rebels won straight-setters to clinch it and then emerged with a pair of super-tiebreakers to complete the clean sweep.
 
Zita Kovacs won, 6-4, 6-7, 1-0 (11-9), over Anna Pinaieva, at No. 1; Aher rolled past Lisa Zhu, 6-1, 6-1, at No. 2; Hu swept Natsuki Nishimura, 6-3, 6-1, at No. 3; Hanna Vinahradava outlasted Valeriia Ivanovskaia, 6-7, 7-5, 1-0 (10-4), at No. 4; Zhao prevailed Varvara Nikolaeva, 6-3, 6-1, at No. 5; and Nikol Mircheva swept Whitney Moon, 6-1, 6-4, on court six.
 
REBEL OF THE MATCH: Salsa Aher breezed through both of her matches, at No. 3 doubles and No. 2 singles, to set the tone in the team shutout.
 
UP NEXT: UNLV hosts UTSA on Saturday starting with doubles play at 10 a.m. Admission to all matches at the Fertitta Tennis Complex are free of charge.
