LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV football team, coming off a first-place regular-season conference finish, will both begin and end league play inside its home at Allegiant Stadium as the tentative league-wide schedule was released Thursday by the Mountain West. 
 
Under the direction of 2023 Mountain West Coach of the Year Barry Odom, the Rebels will kick off their 57th season of football on Saturday, August 31 by heading to Big 12 Conference member Houston in the first of five non-conference outings and fourth-all-time meeting with the Cougars.
 
UNLV will open its home slate on September 7 by welcoming Utah Tech to town for the first time.
 
Another Big 12 opponent is up next when the Rebels stage a rematch of last year's Guaranteed Rate Bowl on September 14 vs. Kansas. The game will be held in Kansas City, Kansas, inside Children's Mercy Park – the home of MLS franchise Sporting Kansas City.
 
After a week off, Mountain West play begins with Fresno State at UNLV on September 28. That will be followed by a first-ever meeting with storied program Syracuse at Allegiant Stadium, which will also mark the the first time the Rebels face an opponent from the ACC at home.
 
A trip to Utah State on October 12 will be the first of UNLV's only back-to-back road games of the year. The second trip is a game at Pac-12 Conference member Oregon State on October 19. The Rebels lead the all-time series vs. the Beavers 3-2 and will make their first visit to Corvallis since 2002 as part of the scheduling agreement between the Mountain West and the two remaining members of the Pac-12. While part of the conference scheduling, the game will not count toward the Mountain West standings.
 
Another postseason rematch is next up as Boise State will come to Allegiant Stadium on October 26. The Broncos faced the Rebels in the 2023 Mountain West Football Championship in Las Vegas in December but the two programs have not met during the regular season since 2019.
 
Following a second week off, the Rebels head to Hawai'i to defend the famed golden pineapple trophy on November 9 as part of the Ninth Island Showdown sponsored by the California Hotel
 
San Diego State is back on the schedule November 16 in Las Vegas after the Rebels and Aztecs did not play each other last season for the first time since 1998.
 
UNLV's final road game is set for November 23 at San Jose State before the historic 50th Battle for the Fremont Cannon vs. UNR will be staged at Allegiant Stadium on November 30 in the teams' regular-season finale. That meeting will also be a featured part of the Silver State Series presented by America First Credit Union.

The 2024 Mountain West football schedule will play out over 15 weeks, concluding with the Old Trapper Mountain West Football Championship game on a date to be announced. The contest will feature the two teams with the highest conference winning percentage.
 
Thursday's announcement represents the first phase in the 2024 football schedule process. Mountain West national television partners CBS Sports and FOX Sports will now initiate a selection procedure that will include the shifting of particular games to non-Saturday dates. That will be followed by the identification of network outlets and kick times.
 
Season tickets for the six-game 2024 home schedule, which start at $150, are available now by visiting unlvtickets.com or calling (702) 739-FANS (3267). Now through April 1, renewal pricing is available and includes the option of using payment plans until the deadline. Single-game tickets will go on sale in July.
