LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – After a week off, the UNLV women's tennis team was back on the courts during a windy Friday morning and lost 4-0 to former conference-mate Rice at the Fertitta Tennis Complex.
 
The 69th-ranked Rebels fell at home for the first time this season and dropped to 6-3 overall while the Owls improved to 4-6.
 
The visitors took a 1-0 lead by winning the first two completed doubles matches. UNLV's Salsa Aher and Aura Fang were leading 4-2 on court three when their match was halted.
 
In singles play, Zita Kovacs took the first set and was one game away from winning at the top of the lineup but the Owls earned a trio of quick straight-set victories at Nos. 2-4 to end things.
 
UP NEXT: Weather permitting, UNLV hosts Utah Tech on Saturday starting at 9:30 a.m. Admission to all matches at the Fertitta Tennis Complex is free of charge.
