ALBUQUERQUE (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV women's tennis team opened Mountain West play on the road on Friday and fell 4-3 to New Mexico at the McKinnon Family Tennis Stadium.
 
Playing indoors, the Rebels dropped to 6-5 while the Lobos improved to 11-1 overall.
 
The hosts quickly took the doubles point with easy wins on the top two courts.
 
In singles play, UNLV got victories from Cindy Hu, 6-4, 6-2, over Hsuan Huang on court four; Aura Fang, 6-1, 0-6, 6-1, over Bente Vandeputte at No. 6; and Salsa Aher, 7-6, 6-2, over Sarah O'Connor at the second spot in the lineup.
 
All tied at 3, the match would come down to the fifth position where Coco Zhao lost leads in both sets of a 7-6, 7-5 loss to Leonie Hoppe.
 
UP NEXT: UNLV heads to Air Force for a Sunday match starting at 8 a.m. PT.
