Boone Named Raising Cane's Rebel Of The Week

The senior led the Runnin' Rebels to victories over Princeton and Boston College in the first and second rounds of the NIT

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV men's basketball senior Keylan Boone has been named the Raising Cane's Outstanding Rebel of the Week, the school announced Tuesday.

The award goes to the student-athlete who turned in the best individual performance during the previous week of competition from Monday through Sunday as voted on by the UNLV Athletics Strategic Communications department.

Boone, a Tulsa, Oklahoma native, led the Runnin' Rebels to the quarterfinals of the NIT, averaging 18.5 points and 9.5 rebounds in victories over No. 2 Princeton and Boston College. He shot 51.9 percent from the field (14-of-27) in two games, including 53.8 percent from beyond the arc, and made two blocks per game.

At Princeton, Boone earned his fourth double-double with 18 points and a game-high 11 rebounds. He continued his hot streak by scoring a team-high 19 points while grabbing a team-leading eight rebounds and draining five 3-pointers at the Thomas & Mack Center against Boston College.

This is the Runnin' Rebels' first postseason appearance in 11 years. The win over Princeton was their first postseason victory in 16 years.
