SANTA CLARA, Calif. (UNLVRebels.com) – Playing its third consecutive ranked opponent on the road, a depleted UNLV men's tennis team dropped a 7-0 decision at Santa Clara on Saturday afternoon at the Degheri Tennis Center.
The Rebels, who were missing two starters in singles play, fell to 5-6 while the Broncos of the West Coast Conference improved to 9-2.
Santa Clara took the lead by sweeping doubles and then swept all six singles matches in straight sets against a makeshift UNLV lineup.
QUOTABLE:
"We faced a lot of challenges today and were not good enough to hand them. Congratulations to Santa Clara. We now look forward to facing Purdue on Tuesday."
-UNLV Head Coach Andy Jackson
