LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – To commemorate the upcoming 50th Battle for the Fremont Cannon football game between UNLV and UNR, 2024 Rebel season ticket holders will receive an exclusive, stitched hat with a specially designed logo, the athletics department announced Thursday.
The Rebels will host the Wolf Pack in November during the final week of the regular-season at Allegiant Stadium looking to keep the Fremont Cannon painted red for a third consecutive year. The game will mark the 50th ever staged between the Silver State's only two football-playing universities, which first faced each other in 1969 but did not become permanent, continuous rivals until the 1989 season.
In partnership with America First Credit Union, all renewed season ticket holders are eligible to receive the exclusive, one-size-fits-all adjustable cap for each of their paid tickets. New season ticket holders can qualify to receive the gift if they purchase prior to May 31, 2024.
Season tickets for the six-game 2024 home schedule, which start at $150, are available now by visiting unlvtickets.com or calling (702) 739-FANS (3267).
The famed, 545-pound Fremont Cannon, which was built by the Nevada Mines Division of the Kennecott Copper Corp., and unveiled in 1970, is considered the most expensive and heaviest symbol of rivalry in college sports. In fact, in 2014 the Cannon was named the best rivalry trophy in all of college football by Yahoo! Sports while Sports Illustrated in 2016 ranked it No. 2 on its list of unusual college football trophies.
