LUBBOCK, Texas (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV women's golf team shot a 1-under 287 in back-to-back rounds Tuesday to end the opening day of Texas Tech's Red Raider Invitational in second at The Rawls Course (Par 72, 6,894/6,877 yards).

Through 36 holes, the Rebels combined to go 2-under 576 as each of their four scorers for the day finished with par-or-better scores. The Scarlet & Gray, which was one of two teams to shoot below par after two rounds, heads into the final round within three of the early leader and host Texas Tech at 5-under.

Headlining UNLV's scorecard, senior McKenzi Hall (70-73) and senior Mayumi Umezu (72-71) both stand in a tie for 11th at 1-under. Hall's best round was in the first with a 2-under 70, while Umezu put forth her best round on the day's final 18 with a 1-under 71.

Joining their Scarlet & Gray counterparts in the top 20, senior Toa Yokoyama and sophomore Zi Yu Foong pulled even to move into a tie for 17th. Yokoyama matched Hall's 2-under 70 on her final 18 holes and Foong added her own 1-under 71 on her opening 18. Senior Hina Matsui (+5) rounds out the UNLV lineup in 39th.

New Mexico's María Caparrós Levin went into the clubhouse with the day-one individual lead at 5-under.
