Freeman Named Raising Cane's Outstanding Rebel Of The Week

The Rebel graduate student helped UNLV to a 3-0 weekend, including wins over Northwestern and Iowa State

 
LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – UNLV volleyball graduate student Jordyn Freeman has been named the Raising Cane's Outstanding Rebel of the Week, the school announced Thursday.

The award goes to the student-athlete who turned in the best individual performance during the previous week of competition from Monday through Sunday as voted on by the UNLV Athletics Strategic Communications department.

Freeman, a San Diego native, helped the Rebels to a perfect 3-0 record during The Rebel Challenge, defeating the Big Ten's Northwestern, the Big 12's Iowa State as well as Pacific. Over the three-game stretch, she finished with a Mountain West-leading 17 total blocks, a staggering .479 hitting percentage to go along with 27 kills. 

In the five-set win over Iowa State, Freeman recorded a season-high 11 kills. In another five-set victory against Northwestern, she gathered a match-high eight blocks and nine kills. In the three-set sweep against Pacific, Freeman collected seven kills, six blocks and a weekend-best .700 percentage.
