LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – UNLV men's golf junior Zach Little has been named the Raising Cane's Outstanding Rebel of the Week, the school announced Sunday.
Little earned the recognition for the first time this season, while it's also the men's golf team's first of the year.
The award goes to the student-athlete who turned in the best individual performance during the previous week of competition from Monday through Sunday as voted on by the UNLV Athletics Strategic Communications department.
A native of Croxley Green, England, Little helped UNLV capture the Mountain West men's golf team title via, while also earning the MW individual title. The Rebels earned a sweep of both individual trophies for the first time since 2018.
After a first-round 69 and a second-round 66, he shot a final-round 8-under 64 to clinch the individual victory. In the playoff, he made the putt that sealed the victory over New Mexico. Little finished with a 54-hole program individual low for a conference tournament at 17-under 199, topping former Rebel golfer Shintaro Ban's previous record of 16-under 200 in his 2018 win.
His scorecard paved the way for the Scarlet & Gray setting a program-record 54-hole score for a conference championship at 39-under 825. Additionally, he kept his top-15 streak alive with his victory, finishing in the top 15 for the seventh consecutive tournament.
