LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – For the fourth consecutive year and for the 11th time in the award's 14-year history, the UNLV Athletics Department is the winner of the Silver State Series presented by America First Credit Union.
With all points now assigned, the Rebels took the all-encompassing competition with the Wolf Pack by the dominating final score of 34.5-13.5. UNLV's point total was the most since 2019 and tied for the second-most scored by either side since the system was first introduced in 2013.
The Rebels quickly opened a 6-0 lead by taking points in volleyball and women's soccer and then closing out the fall calendar with a football win, which again included ownership of the famed Fremont Cannon. UNLV would earn another six points in the winter with points from women's swimming and diving and women's basketball.
Also adding three points for the Scarlet & Gray this spring was men's golf, women's golf, men's tennis and women's tennis and softball. Earlier in the calendar the men's basketball squad split its matchups to divide the points, adding 1.5 each to their respective total. UNLV added its final three points from the academic side when APR scores were recently released.
The Wolf Pack compiled its wins this time around in cross country, indoor and outdoor track & field and baseball to go with the one split on the hardwood.
"It's never taken for granted how hard our student-athletes, coaches and support staff work year-round and another win in this series demonstrates that drive toward excellence," UNLV Director of Athletics
Erick Harper said. "We got off to a great start in the fall, including keeping the Cannon red, and really never let up on the women's or men's sides in our rivalry matchups. America First Credit Union continues to be a tremendous partner and we are grateful for their unwavering support of the Silver State Series. We look forward to kicking things off again in the fall."
