LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – UNLV women's basketball senior Kiara Jackson has been named the Raising Cane's Outstanding Rebel of the Week, the school announced Thursday.

The award goes to the student-athlete who turned in the best individual performance during the previous week of competition from Monday through Sunday as voted on by the UNLV Athletics Strategic Communications department.

Jackson, a native of Grand Prairie, Texas, helped the Lady Rebels go 2-0 to start  Mountain West play against San Jose State and Boise State. She led the Scarlet & Gray in scoring, averaging 19.0 points per game while shooting 51.7% (15-of-29) and 75% on 3-pointers (3-of-4). Additionally, Jackson averaged 4 assists and 4.5 rebounds per game through the two games.

Against SJSU, Jackson tied for a team high in points with 20, just one shy of tying her career high. In the victory over the Spartans, Jackson shot 66.7% (8-for-12) from the field, 75% (3-for-4) from 3-point range and 1-for-1 at the free-throw line.

In the win over the Broncos, she scored a team-high 18 points, scoring 10 of those in the fourth quarter, and finished a perfect 4-for-4 at the charity stripe.
