LAS VEGAS (UNLVrebels.com) – After competing in the Lumberjack Team Challenge last weekend, the UNLV track & field team will compete for the second-straight weekend in the next couple days. This time the program will travel out to the Ted Nelson Invitational, hosted by College Station, Texas from Friday, Jan. 24 through Saturday, Jan. 25.
The meet's first day in the R.A. "Murray" Fasken '38 Indoor Track will only hold the men's and women's weight throw, the Scarlet & Gray entering their throws team in the event set to start after the conclusion of the men's event. Last weekend, freshman
Lauryn Williams led the team of four Rebel throwers with a 14.14m (46' 4.75") distance, finishing ninth place overall and picking up a spot in finals.
The second day of action on Saturday will kick off 8 a.m. PT with running events, the field events starting an hour later. The track events the meet will run are the 3000m, 60m hurdles and 60m (both prelim-final), mile, 400m, 800m, 200m, DMR and the 4x400m relay. The field events consist of the shot put, pole vault, long jump, high jump and triple jump. A schedule with times of the events can be found

The teams attending the meet include Texas A&M, Air Frce, Auburn, Georgia, Houston, Northern Colorado, SMU, South Carolina, TCU, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Texas State, UT-Arlington, UT-San Antonio and Vanderbilt.
UNLV found plenty of success last weekend at the Lumberjack Team Challenge,
Jaydea Carter being crowned the event champion in the women's 60m hurdles. Posting a 8.47 final time in the event, the Rebels featured a handful of second-place finishes as well during the one-day meet. The senior duo of
Kennedi Porter and
Krishna Jayasankar each found a runner-up placing in their respected events, Porter posting a 7.47 time in the women's 60m and Jayasankar tossing a 14.86m (48' 9") distance in the women's shot put. The final second-place finish was earned by
Grace Cunningham, jumping to a 1.67m (5' 5.75") height in the women's high jump.
