BOISE, Idaho (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV volleyball team went the distance with the Boise State Broncos Thursday night at Bronco Gym; however, the visiting Rebels were unable to come away with the victory in the first of two matches of a road trip. The Broncos won the affair 3-2 behind set scores of 25-22, 24-26, 28-26, 23-25, 15-12.
The Scarlet & Gray had five players register double-digit digs, four with double-digit kills and three with double-digit assists. The offense was paced by Jaida Harris' 23 kills and 16 digs, her third double-double of the season, while Alondra Alarcon collected her fifth double-double of the campaign, totaling 18 kills and 12 digs. Basia Latos added 13 kills with a team-best .333 hitting percentage along with two digs and two block assists, and Brooklynn Williams posted 12 kills, four digs, two blocks (one solo, one block assist). The setter duo of Kaia Thiele and Agata Makowska garnered double-doubles of their own with the former earning career-highs of 34 assists and 17 assists, while the latter added 25 assists and 16 digs along with a service ace and a kill. Logan Lindsay sparked the Rebels in the fourth set where she totaled four kills.
Rheanna Deen-Jackson led the team defensively with six blocks (four block assists, two solo blocks, while Caleigh King collected her third career double-double with a team tying-high 17 digs along with 11 assists.
Boise State outhit UNLV .281 to .262 and had three fewer errors (22-25) in 11 fewer attack attempts (199-210). Furthermore, the Scarlet & Gray had help from two more kills (80-78). The Broncos posted a pair of .378 hitting percentages in the first and third set, while the Rebels topped at .325 in the third set. UNLV's winning sets consisted of a .302 clip in the second set (20-4-53) and .225 in the fourth set (16-7-40). UNLV held Boise State to a match-low .158 clip (13-7-38) in set four, but the Rebels were limited to a .250 hitting percentage on just two errors in set five, while the Broncos hit just .214 in the final frame.
REBEL NOTES: The Rebels collected a season-best 79 assists, 86 digs and 210 total attacks. Additionally, UNLV's 80 kills is the second-most kills they've recorded this season. Libero Caleigh King posted 17 digs to reach 871 career digs and is eight digs away from moving to ninth on the all-time career digs list in program history. Additionally, she is 129 digs away from becoming the seventh member of the 1,000 dig club in UNLV history.
