USAFA, Colo. (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV volleyball team pushed out to an early 1-0 lead on Air Force Saturday afternoon at the Cadet East Gym but the visiting Rebels were unable to maintain that early momentum the remainder of the Mountain West contest. The Falcons rebounded to win the second, third and fourth sets to defeat the Rebels, 3-1, behind set scores of 25-20, 23-25, 21-25, 14-25.
The Falcons (10-6, 2-2 MW) outhit the Rebels (8-6, 2-2 MW) by 131 points (.255 to .124) with help from 16 more kills (58-42) and four fewer errors (21-25) in eight fewer attack attempts (137-145). The hosts from Colorado Springs hit over .200 in two of the four sets, topping out at .650 (14-1-20) in the fourth. UNLV, on the other hand, opened the affair with a .133 clip followed by a set-best .171 in the second before hitting below .100 in the final two sets.
The Scarlet & Gray got a double-double from Jaida Harris with the redshirt sophomore outside hitter compiling with 14 kills and 12 digs along with two service aces and one block assist. Libero Caleigh King recorded her 39th career double-digit dig match and ninth this season with 15 digs. The setter trio of Alexa Ankerstar, Kaia Thiele and Agata Makowska notched 15, 11 and 10 assists, respectively.
