Thomas, Roland Named Raising Cane's Outstanding Co-Rebels Of The Week

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – UNLV football junior Jai'Den Thomas and women's basketball redshirt sophomore Meadow Roland have been named the Raising Cane's Outstanding Co-Rebels of the Week, the school announced Wednesday.

The award goes to the student-athlete who turned in the best individual performance during the previous week of competition from Monday through Sunday as voted on by the UNLV Athletics Strategic Communications department.

A native of Atlanta, Georgia, Thomas recorded 131 rushing yards and one touchdown on seven carries in a 42-10 road win at Colorado State. In the second quarter, he posted two long runs, including a 57-yard touchdown scamper and then his 59-yard bolt on the next drive set up another score. Behind his eye-popping 18.7 yards per carry, he posted his eighth career 100-yard outing.

Roland, a native of Fresno, California, averaged 17.5 points and 12 rebounds per game and shot 84.6 (11-for-13) from the charity stripe to help the Lady Rebels to a 2-0 start. In a win over DePaul, she tallied her second career double-double with 18 points and 15 rebounds to go along with a career-high 5 blocks. Against Washington State, Roland had 17 points and nine rebounds. She was also named the Mountain West Player of the Week.
