LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV volleyball team evened the match at 1-1 on the Wyoming Cowgirls Thursday evening at The Pavilion, but the host Rebels were unable to maintain that momentum the remainder of the Mountain West contest. The Cowgirls rebounded to win the third and fourth sets to defeat the Rebels, 3-1, behind set scores of 25-23, 24-26, 25-21, 26-24.
The Cowgirls (14-12 overall, 10-5 MW) outhit the Rebels (12-13, 6-9 MW) .233 to .171 with help from eight more kills (64-56) and two fewer errors (22-24) in seven fewer attack attempts (180-187). The visitors from Laramie hit .225 or better in three of the four sets, topping out at .286 (16-4-42) in the fourth. UNLV hit below .200 in three of the four sets and topped at .224 (17-6-49) in the fourth set.
The Scarlet & Gray saw junior libero Caleigh King record a career-high 29 digs and is now 43 digs away from becoming the seventh member of the 1,000 career dig club in program history. Freshman setter Kaia Thiele collected her fifth 25+ assist match of the season with a match-high 28 assists along with seven digs. Sophomore middle blocker Rheanna Deen-Jackson posted five block assists and nine kills.
Offensively, Alondra Alarcon notched 15 kills, seven digs, three service aces and hit .314 overall. Brooklynn Williams posted double-digit kills of her own with 10 kills and hit .563 on just one error.
UP NEXT: UNLV continues its homestand at The Pavilion Saturday afternoon at 12 p.m. against Colorado State. The Rebels will also host Fresno State (Nov. 20) and San Jose State (Nov. 22) next week.
