Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

No. 8 Alabama Defeats Runnin' Rebels On Second Day Of Players Era

UNLV will close out the event against Rutgers on Thanksgiving at 1:30 p.m. at Michelob ULTRA Arena.

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV men's basketball team was defeated by No. 8 Alabama on the second day of the Players Era Men's Championship, 115-76, Tuesday night at MGM Grand Garden Arena.

The Crimson Tide (4-2) had six players score in double figures, led by Aden Holloway's game-highs of 26 points and five made 3-pointers. Aiden Sherrell had a game-high eight rebounds.

The Runnin' Rebels (3-4) were led by Dra Gibbs-Lawhorn's 25 points. Issac Williamson scored 18 and made four 3-pointers, while Kimani Hamilton scored 13 with five rebounds.

STAT OF THE GAME: Alabama shot 63.6% (21 of 33) in the second half, including 50% on 3-pointers (8 of 16), finishing the game at 55.4 FG% and 42.4 3FG%.

FREE THROWS: Alabama shot 21 more free throws than UNLV did (35-14), outscoring the Runnin' Rebels at the charity stripe 29-7.

QUOTABLE: "Alabama is really good. As limited as we are and as small as we are right now, without our front-court guys, it was going to be an uphill battle from the start. They made some great shots, and we struggled to score. We just don't have an inside presence right now. Tyrin (Jones) is a freshman playing our five spot, and he's really a three/four. Doing that against an SEC team, one of the best teams in the country, makes it tough. We need to get healthy. We will put this behind us and get ready for a very good Rutgers team on Thursday." - UNLV head coach Josh Pastner

OTHER NOTES:
- Alabama made 14 3-pointers.
- Alabama out-rebounded UNLV 48-28.
- UNLV committed just 10 turnovers.
- Alabama's bench outscored UNLV's 38-9.
- Alabama led 51-36 at halftime.
- UNLV shot 42.3% from the field and 32.1% on 3-pointers for the game.
- UNLV has made at least one 3-pointer in a NCAA-record 1,267 straight games.

NEXT FOR THE RUNNIN' REBELS: UNLV will wrap up play in the Players Era at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 27, vs. Rutgers at Michelob ULTRA Arena at Mandalay Bay.
