HOUSTON (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV women's tennis team hit the road for the first time this season and was blanked 4-0 Friday by No. 59 Rice at the George R. Brown Tennis Center.
 
The Rebels fell to 7-3 while the Owls improved to 7-4 overall and 2-1 in the all-time series between the programs.
 
The hosts took a 1-0 lead by winning both completed doubles matches.
 
Singles play was much more competitive as three Rebels won a set in the top half of the lineup – Cindy Hu at No. 1, Veronica Kliuch at No. 2 and Coco Zhao at court three. However, Rice took the bottom trio of matches in straight sets to clinch the overall victory.
 
UP NEXT: UNLV will remain in Houston and look to bounce back Saturday vs. Louisiana Tech in a neutral-site meeting starting at 9 a.m. PT.
