SPOKANE, Wash. (UNLVrebels.com) – The UNLV women's track & field team rounded out the 2025 Riverfront Invitational on Saturday afternoon, concluding the three-day meet hosted by Spokane Sports.
The Rebels found a handful of top-three finishes among the 60m and 60m hurdles prelims-finals events, placing three student-athletes among the top eight.
Jaydea Carter held the highest finish for the Scarlet & Gray in the hurdles, claiming the runner-up spot in the event on a 8.40 final time. Carter's finals time was a .05 second improvement from her prelims performance earlier in the day, originally posting an 8.45 mark.
Kennedi Porter and
AnnaKay Maitland both picked up top-eight spot in the 60m, Porter finding a bronze medal (7.38) and Maitland (7.59) rounding out the top-eight finishers.
The UNLV field events also garnered a finalist,
Juliana Roberson picking up a spot in the women's triple jump. The freshman reached as high as fourth overall in the event, securing her placement on a 12.02m (39' 5.25") jump, her top distance during the 2025 indoor season.
The distance crew for the Rebels found their own slate of top-eight spots;
Claire Rands and
Natalia Ruiz each finding some of the top times of their respective events. Ruiz made her way through the women's 3000m, posting a 9:53.07 final time in the event. Rands was able to make her stand in the women's 600m, crossing the finish line at a 1:37.28 final time.
The 400m team picked up a pair of strong showings as well, finding a pair of finishers in the women's 400m. Split in between "Invite" and "Collegiate", UNLV placed one athlete in each section off of Gowdy's 55.95 time for eighth (Invite) and
Sadia Green's finish of 57.66 at fourth (Collegiate).
The Rebels rounded out the meet with the women's 4x400m relay, the team of Green, Gowdy, Porter and Carter combining for a 3:51.40 final time. The relay squad finished fifth overall in the event as the top Rebel relay in the event.
UNLV will take part in one more indoor meet before the championship season kicks off, running at the Don Kirby ELITE Invitational from Friday, Feb, 14 through Saturday, Feb. 15. FRIDAY
The UNLV women's track & field team continued the three-day Riverfront Invitational on Friday, competing in several events at The Podium. The Rebels posted a handful of top times and personal bests in the meet hosted by Spokane Sports, following up Lujan's personal-best the day prior.
Kennedi Porter led the Rebels on the second day of competition, performing the top collegiate time in the women's 200m. The senior posted a 23.71 time for a season-best mark, finishing second overall in the event and beating out the third-place finisher by .23 seconds.
Jayda Bushay and
AnnaKay Maitland also both nailed season-best times in the event, Bushay's marking a personal-best time in the indoor event.
Another individual season-best mark included
Madelynn Wattles, the senior picking up her note in the women's weight throw. Wattles tossed a distance of 14.39m (47' 2.5"), finishing inside the meet's top-20 competitors in the event.
The Scarlet & Gray also noted a season-best relay time in the women's DMR, posting a 12:21.76 final time in the race. The Rebel relay consisted of
Breanna Blanks,
Malika Mashack,
Alana Sangprasit and
Natalia Ruiz, the team finishing sixth overall. Sangprasit and Ruiz's legs of the relay surged UNLV up three spots, the sophomore splitting a 2:23.66 time on the third leg while the senior split a 5:02.15 time as the anchor.
Saturday will mark the final day of competition, starting with the women's 60m hurdles prelims at 10 a.m. PT. The events scheduled after are the 60m, mile, 400m, 600m, 3000m, 4x400m relay, triple jump and shot put. THURSDAY
The UNLV women's track & field team started the three-day meet out at The Podium on Thursday night, hosted by Spokane Sports. The meet only had one event for the women slated, that being the women's pentathlon.
Jada Lujan represented the Rebels in the event, totaling 2906 points. The freshman's performance was the first of her collegiate career, finishing 18th in the event. The Santa Fe, N.M., native made a jump in the rankings through the women's pentathlon long jump, pushing a best distance of 4.79m in the event.
Friday will mark the second day of competition, starting with the women's weight throw at 12:30 p.m. PT. The events scheduled after are the high jump, long jump, 800m, 200m, 5000m and DMR. To get updates on all things Rebel track & field, links to the season's meets can be found on the team's
