ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (UNLVrebels.com) – The UNLV track & field team competed in the final day of the 2025 Mountain West Indoor Track & Field Championships on Saturday, taking part in several finals and earning some medals along the way.
Kennedi Porter earned multiple individual medals in the meet's final day, picking up a pair of silver medals in the women's 60m and 200m races. Her 60m time registered a 7.32 final time for the runner-up spot in the event, the 200m time being listed as 23.26. The 200m time she performed was tallied as a faster mark than her prelim time by .2 seconds.
The Rebels were awarded two bronze medals as well during the final day of competition,
Krishna Jayasankar picking it up individually for the Scarlet & Gray in the women's shot put. The senior tossed a personal-best distance of 16.03m (52' 7.25") in the event, notching the fourth-farthest distance in program history. The UNLV 4x400m relay was the other event to claim the bronze medal, clicking in on a 3:39.08 final time in the event. The relay consisted of
Kaelin Gowdy,
Lacarthea Cooper,
Jayda Bushay and
Jaydea Carter, beating out Utah State's relay for the bronze medal by 1.08 seconds.
UNLV featured a handful of fourth-place finishers in the meet, including
Lacarthea Cooper in the 400m on a 53.34 final time. The recent transfer etched her name into the UNLV record books with the race, tying Julie Harrison's race from 1984 as the third-fastest time in school history.
Jaydea Carter kicked off the day with a fourth-place finish in the women's 60m hurdles. Carter's final time was listed with a 8.45 mark, beating out the fifth-place finisher by .08 seconds.
The Scarlet & Gray scored points through two other finalists on the day,
Chinyere Okoro joining Porter with a top-eight spot in the women's 60m with a 7.48 mark for sixth.
Juliana Roberson produced a personal-best distance in the women's triple jump, the freshman tracking a 12.38m (40' 7.5") distance in the event for seventh-place overall.
The Rebels will soon take off for the outdoor season, taking part in the Jim Bush Legends meet hosted by UCLA. That meet will be a two-day event in Los Angeles, taking place from Friday, March 21 through Saturday, March 22. DAY TWO
The UNLV track & field team continued the 2025 Mountain West Indoor Track & Field Championships on Friday, competing in the second of three days at the Albuquerque Convention Center on Friday.
The Scarlet & Gray picked up their first medal of the championships towards the end of the day, the day consisting of mostly preliminary events.
Grace Cunningham picked up her second-consecutive medal in the women's indoor high jump at the conference championships, claiming the bronze medal at a third-place finish. The junior reached a height of 1.74m (5' 8.5"), clearing her first two heights on her first attempt.
The Rebels found several qualifiers into the championship finals sessions on Saturday, senior
Kennedi Porter tying her personal and UNLV record in the women's 60m on a time of 7.29. That time reached second overall in the prelim race, teammate
Chinyere Okoro finishing seventh in the event on a 7.51 final time.
Porter also found a second-place finish in the women's 200m, qualifying for the finals event tomorrow afternoon. She registered a time of 23.46, beating out the third-place spot by .06 seconds.
Jaydea Carter picked up a finals qualification of her own from the women's 60m hurdles, etching a third-place spot in the event after the prelims event. Her 8.46 time was just a thousandth of a second from the next-highest placing.
Lacarthea Cooper was the final Rebel to solidify a placing in the women's 400m prelim, registering a 53.94 time. The recent transfer placed seventh overall for a chance to compete in the event on Saturday, beating out the ninth-place finisher in the prelim by .65 seconds.
UNLV also showcased several personal-best marks throughout day two of the indoor championships, the throws team picking up a pair in
Sophia Clark (15.21m) and
Lauryn Williams (14.49m). The women's 800m also featured multiple Rebel highs,
Claire Rands (2:17.19) and
Leah Okuda (2:19.22) earning theirs after the altitude conversion.
Breanna Blanks also tallied a personal-best time after converting for the altitude, her mile time clocking in at 5:15.24. Three more Rebel student-athletes totaled personal-best marks in their respective races,
Jayda Bushay (24.34) in the 200,
Kaelin Gowdy (55.22) and
Malika Mashack (57.79) getting theirs in the 400m.
The Rebels will look to claim a few more medals before the conclusion of Saturday's final day, the events consisting of the women's triple jump, 50m hurdles, 400m, shot put, 60m, 200m, 3000m and 4x400m relay. The first Rebel event is scheduled to kick off at 11:30 a.m. MT.

DAY ONE
The UNLV track & field team kicked off the 2025 Mountain West Indoor Track & Field Championships on Thursday night, competing in two events on the first of three days.
The Rebels' two events in the Albuquerque Convention Center were the women's pentathlon and DMR.
Jada Lujan represented the Rebels in the pentathlon, totaling 2861 points in the freshman's first Mountain West Championship event. The freshman's highest-scoring event was the 60m hurdles, posting 769 points in the event.
The DMR consisted of
Claire Rands,
Malika Mashack,
Leah Okuda and
Natalia Ruiz, the squad teaming up for a final time of 12:15.75. The race marked a season-best time for the program, beating their previous mark from the Riverfront Multi's by around six seconds. UNLV raced in the order previously mentioned, Ruiz's anchor leg pushing the Rebels up one more place higher than where they were at the start of her leg.
The Scarlet & Gray will have plenty more events over the course of the upcoming weekend, day two on Friday, Feb. 28 holding the majority of prelim events for the indoor championships. The events that will take place on Friday consist of the long jump, mile, 60m hurdles, 400m, 60m, weight throw, 800m, 200m and high jump. The first Rebel event, the women's long jump, is set to kick off at 1 p.m. MT.
