LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV men's tennis team closed out its non-conference schedule by earning its first ranked win of the season, 4-2, over No. 75 Wichita State on a hot Monday at the Fertitta Tennis Complex.
The Rebels improved to 6-6 while the Shockers, who saw their three-match win streak snapped, fell to 8-9 on the year.
UNLV had to rally after losing the doubles point. The Rebel duo of
Ilia Snitari and
Illia Maksymchuk blanked their opponents, 6-0, at the top of the lineup before WSU won the remaining two matches for a 1-0 lead.
In singles,
Thomas Navarro swept Vanja Hodzic, 6-4, 6-4, at No. 3 and
Joel Gibson got by Luke Bracks, 7-6, 6-4, at No. 5. Two Rebels rallied after dropping the first set to eventually score points for the hosts.
Vitaliy Horovoy downed Ilias Worthington, 3-6, 6-0, 6-3, at the fourth spot and Snitari downed Krsitof Minarik, 4-6, 6-2, 6-0, at the top of the lineup.

Ilia Snitari continues to impress, winning easily in doubles and then taking the match at No. 1 singles.
