Mayumi Umezu ended Wednesday's opening two rounds of Wyoming's Cowgirl Classic in a tie for first at Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club (Par 72, 6,212 yards).
INDIVIDUAL LEADER: Umezu is part of a three-way tie atop the individual standings at 1-over through 36 holes alongside Iowa State's Karisa Chul-Ak-Sorn and Grand Canyon's Anci Dy.
TEAM LEADERBOARD: The Rebels (+13), meanwhile, sit one shot back of day-one leader Iowa State (+12) after carding the day's only below-par round as a team with a 1-under 287 in the second round. They rebounded with a 15-shot improvement from their first-round score (+14) behind a 1-under 71 from senior
McKenzi Hall and even-par 72 scorecards from her senior counterparts Umezu,
Toa Yokoyama and
Hina Matsui.
REBEL ROUNDUP: Joining Umezu in the top 10 are Matsui (+3) in a tie for sixth and Yokoyama (+4) in a tie for 10th. Behind them in the Scarlet & Gray lineup, sophomore
Zi Yu Foong is tied for 21st (+8) and Hall (+10) follows in a tie for 30th. Playing as an individual, freshman
Amber Chen (+10) enters the final round alongside Hall in a tie for 30th.
