Rebels Perform Well At Penn Relays

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV track & field squad wrapped up their stay at the 129th Penn Relays with impressive performances.

DAY TWO
The UNLV track & field team ended the final day of the 129th Penn Relays with the 4x100m Relay teams competing in the finals and an individual participating in the 100m Hurdle finals at historic Franklin Field.

In the 4x100-meter Relay Championship of America finals, the quartet of Chinyere Okoro, Kennedi Porter, Jayda Bushay and Jaydea Carter blazed their way to a sixth-place showing of 45.15 seconds. Among the teams they competed against were a trio of Power Five programs.

Carter returned to the track later in the day for the 100m hurdle finals, where she clocked in a 13.65, also securing sixth place.

DAY ONE
The UNLV track & field team opened up their stay at the Penn Relays on Friday afternoon, competing in the second of three days at Franklin Field. The Rebels held a successful day two, featuring a relay team qualifying for the finals tomorrow and an individual qualifying for the 100m hurdle finals. Moreover, UNLV saw a total of three top-eight finishes.

The Rebels' 4x100m Relay team of Chinyere Okoro, Kennedi Porter, AnnaKay Maitland and Jaydea Carter punched their ticket to the Championship of America finals after clocking a time of 44.66. The time placed them second in their heat and seventh overall, securing one of the coveted finals spots set for Saturday.

Carter, a standout on the day, also earned a trip to the 100m hurdle finals with a time of 13.43 seconds. She placed second in her heat and seventh overall. UNLV's 4x200m Relay team, composed of Lacarthea Cooper, Gabriella Caldwell, Sadia Green, and Malia Mashack held their own in a deep field, finishing fifth in their heat and seventh overall with a time of 1:36.96.

In the 100m dash, Porter placed 13th overall with a time of 11.90, while Gabriella Caldwell crossed in 12.33 to finish 31st. The team of Cooper, Jayda Bushay, Carter, and Mashack closed the day in the 4x400m Relay by turning in a time of 3:49.54.
