Rebels, Umezu End Regular Season With Second-Place Finishes At Cowgirl Classic

MARICOPA,  Ariz. (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV women's golf team and senior Mayumi Umezu finished second in the respective team and individual standings to end the regular season Thursday at Wyoming's Cowgirl Classic held at Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club (Par 72, 6,212 yards).

REBEL ROUNDUP: The Rebels, who grabbed their sixth top-2 finish of the 2024-25 campaign, posted a final-round 2-under 286 after Umezu shot a 2-under 70 and sophomore Zi Yu Foong tallied a team-best 3-under 69 on the day. Umezu recorded a final tournament score of 1-under 215, Foong (+5) and senior Hina Matsui (+5) tied for 11th, senior Toa Yokoyama (+8) tied for 17th and senior McKenzi Hall (+11) tied for 24th. As an individual competitor, freshman Amber Chen (+16) tied for 39th.

LEADERBOARD: Umezu was only edged by the individual medalist Karisa Chul-Ak-Sorn (-2) from Iowa State by one shot. The Scarlet & Gray (+11) shot below par for the second straight round to land within eight shots of team champion Iowa State's 3-over 867 for the tournament.

UP NEXT: UNLV now looks ahead to the Mountain West Championship being held at Mission Hills Country Club in Rancho Mirage, California, from April 15-17.
