UNLV Track & Field Shines On Final Day Of UNLV Rebel ELITE

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The Scarlet & Gray closed out the UNLV Rebel ELITE at the Myron Partridge Stadium and Sheila Tarr Smith Field marked by multiple pair of personal bests performances and a championship 4x100m Relay squad. 

DAY TWO
The highlight of the day came from the 4x100m relay team of Sadia Green, Kennedi Porter, AnnaKay Maitland and Jaydea Carter taking home first place with a time of 44.86 seconds. In the 100m hurdles, Jaydea Carter continued her strong season with a third-place finish in 13.38 seconds, while Jada Lujin finished 39th in 16.78 seconds. The triple jump also saw a top-tier performance from Juliana Roberson, who placed fourth with a mark of 12.34 meters (40' 6"). 

In the high jump, both Grace Cunningham and Erin Thompson had solid performances. Cunningham cleared 1.76 meters (5' 9 ¼") to secure thid place, while Thompson's jump of 1.60 meters (5' 3") earned her 12th.

The distance events saw strong finishes, led by Natalia Ruiz in the 1500m, who placed second with a time of 4:33.45. Other notable finishes in the 1500m included Breanna Blanks (21st, 5:02.81) and Aine McDade (31st, 5:16.53).

The 400m was a tight race, with Kaelin Gowdy earning eighth place with a time of 55.87 seconds. Sadia Green also had a standout performance, finishing ninth in 56.47 seconds, a new personal best. Other notable performances came from Malika Mashack (14th, 57.93) and Morgan Quinn (24th, 59.49). In the 100m, AnnaKay Maitland placed sixth with a personal-best time of 11.71 seconds, while Gabriella Caldwell also posted a personal best of 11.86 seconds for 11th place. Other Rebels in the event included Aja Melo-Powell (23rd, 12.12) and Gabriella Caldwell (20th, 24.54).

The discus throw saw Krishna Jayasankar finish sixth with a throw of 43.66 meters (153' 1"), and Roxene Simpson earned seventh place with a throw of 45.70 meters (149' 11"). Sophia Clark finished 17th with a mark of 40.72 meters (133' 7"). The 800m was another event where the Rebels excelled, with Claire Rands securing seventh place in 2:16.15. Other finishers included Leah Okuda (13th, 2:19.00) and Eva Walker (23rd, 2:23.34), with Autumn Viscardo setting a personal best of 2:24.27 for 24th. Paityn Neely and T'Erica Boyd represented the Rebels in the 400m hurdles, finishing 18th (1:05.71) and 22nd (1:07.38), respectively.

In the 200m, Casja Chandler, UNLV's current volunteer coach, stole the show with a record-breaking performance, running a blistering 22.46 seconds to win the race and break the Myron Partridge Stadium and Sheila Tarr Smith Field records. Kennedi Porter also impressed with a second place finish in 23.04 seconds, while Jaydea Carter ran a personal best of 23.62 seconds for 4th. Other top performances came from Sadia Green (19th, 24.49), Gabriella Caldwell (20th, 24.54) and Malika Mashack (24.79) with a personal best.

In the 5000m, Aine McDade (17th, 20:07.96) and Taylor Gautier (19th, 22:12.10) both competed well in the long-distance event. Finally, the 4x400m Relay 'A' team finished second with a time of 3:51.85. The team consisted of Sadia Green, Gabriella Caldwell, Jaydea Carter, and Kaelin Gowdy.

UNLV will take a week off of competition before they head to the Bryan Clay Invitational April 16-18 in Azusa, Calif., and the Mt. SAC Relays April 17-19 in Walnut, Calif.

DAY ONE
The Scarlet & Gray opened the UNLV Rebel ELITE at the Myron Partridge Stadium and Sheila Tarr Smith Field marked by a pair of personal bests performances. 

In the hammer throw, both Madelynn Wattles and Lauryn Williams achieved new career milestones, recording personal bests. Wattles launched the hammer to 44.97m (147', 6"), earning 19th place. Williams threw 43.55m (142', 10"), finishing in 24th place. 

The long jump competition saw Juliana Roberson jump into a tie for 7th place with a mark of 5.67m (18', 5.67"). Meanwhile, Jada Ludin also competed in the long jump, landing at 4.87m (15', 0.75"), placing her 27th overall.

In the shot put, Lauryn Williams and Roxene Simpson represented the Rebels with solid results. Williams posted a throw of 11.58m (38' 0"), finishing in 23rd place, while Simpson threw 13.14m (43', 0.5"), securing 12th place.
