Mayumi Umezu led the UNLV women's golf team in Friday's first round at the NCAA Championships at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa (Par 72, 6,330 yards).
REBEL ROUNDUP: Umezu shot a 1-over 73 and dropped in a pair of birdies to sit tied for 46th through 18 holes. Behind her are senior
McKenzi Hall (+5) in a tie for 111th, sophomore
Zi Yu Foong (+7) in a tie for 137th, senior
Hina Matsui (+9) in 149th and freshman
Amber Chen (+10) in a tie for 150th.
LEADERBOARD: Vanderbilt entered the clubhouse as the day-one team leader at 6-under 282, while Tennessee's Bailey Davis walked off the course with the individual lead at 5-under 67. With two rounds remaining, the Rebels (+22) will look to work their way toward the top-15 cut line for Monday's extra round of stroke play, which stands at 6-over.
